Case Study
The Moulding Foundation Building is the new home of the Royal School Manchester and has been constructed to provide new Special Education Needs and Disability School. The building was constructed on the existing site and is part of a multi-phase redevelopment of the school and college to provide new accommodation.
We were employed throughout the construction to inspect all stages of work, including; land remediation, substructure, superstructure, envelope and internal fit-out.
The project ran smoothly with the Principal Contractor, however, hit delays towards the end and was subject to some quality issues relating to internal floor finishes following handover.
We were able to assist contractually in demonstrating that the new carpet tile flooring was not fit for purpose owing to it fraying and disintegrating to its edges.
Following protracted negotiations, the Principal Contractor agreed to replace the carpet prior to the End of Defects Liability period with a suitable replacement.
