This pioneering project was the first of its kind in the UK and involved the construction of a new Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) Cancer Treatment Centre.
We worked closely with the client, main contractor and consultant team to protect the clients interests and monitor quality, conformance and design coordination during the construction phase.
A key issue was the coordination of our inspections with the Contractor to inspect the specifically designed radiation shielding concrete which was of a complex nature with little margin for error. A rigorous sign-off procedure was therefore adopted to ensure that the strict tolerances and coordination necessary for the facility was constructed in accordance with the complex design requirements.
