As the Coronavirus pandemic started to take hold of the country, we were instructed by the Client to commence Supervisor services on this unit.
An outline design had been developed for an Oncology Assessment Unit to an area of shell space the hospital had on its estate. This area was quickly identified as an area which could be used by the Trust to accommodate COVID-19 patients.
In conjunction with the wider Delivery Team we worked to design and build “as we went” due to the need for a truncated and accelerated programme with intense involvement from all parties. The works were originally programmed for 44 weeks and by using 24/7 working shifts the project was delivered in just 7 weeks and were delivered under budget.
